As a result of a modulated spinal cord contusion injury, the pigs in the acute post-traumatic period showed symptoms of spinal shock, which manifested as Schiff-Shirington syndrome and the absence of autonomic spinal reflexes.
More complete elimination of functional neurological dysfunction after spinal cord injury was observed in animals that were applied to the area of the damaged segment of the spinal cord with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) of adipogenic origin.
