Aim. Study of the ability of alcohols, as well as ketones and some hydrocarbons to extract chlorophylls from plant cells. Evaluation of the selectivity of these solvents with respect to chlorophylls, the ability of extracts to photo-oxidation and study of the absorption spectrum of some chlorophyll extracts.
Methods. Methods based on visual observation of the color of the isolated extracts, changing their color during photooxidation and measuring their optical density.
Results. The results are presented in the form of photographs of some extracts before and after irradiation. Their absorption spectra are presented.
Conclusions. Conclusions on the selectivity of extractants with respect to chlorophylls, ability of extracts to photooxidation, the influence of the nature of the extractant on this process. Conclusions on absorption spectra of 3 extracts are given.
