Abstract

Background: Determination of the level of melatonin in the blood

Methods: We used the Khvatov method (1978)

Result: Depending on the rate of increase in hypoxia, acute and chronic hypoxia are distinguished, primarily the functions of the higher parts of the central nervous system suffer, and in chronic hypoxia - the functions of the blood and cardiovascular system. The level of melatonin in the blood after hypoxia consistently decreases Conclusion:

  1. Hypoxia leads to a decrease in melatonin in the blood in mature rabbits.
  2. The results obtained may be important in medicine and biorhythmology for studying the effect of hypoxia on the production of melatonin in the epiphysis.
