The appeal to the regional periodical press of the second half of the XIX century allows us to reflect the level of consciousness, the peculiarities of the socio-psychological organization of the Don society. Unfortunately, the Don periodical press of the period under study was extremely scant in its coverage of not only the events of the theater of military operations, but also internal military affairs during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878.
