Batas in ancient times is known as a military melee weapon, but since the XVII th century. until the XIX th century it was used in the domestic economy as a hunting weapon. The definition of batas and other types of melee weapons in the Russian-language literature is given as a single-blade pole-arm piercing-cutting weapon of the peoples of Siberia, and they write, they are also called a palm tree. At this time, Batas - an ancient melee weapon of the Yakuts can be seen only in the local history museums of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
