ETHNIC GROUPS, ETHNIC CONNECTIONS AND IDENTIFICATION IN THE GLOBAL WORLD
Keywords:
ethnos, microgroups, macro communities, identification, globalization, reproduction of societiesAbstract
The purpose of the article is to analyze the functions of such a community as an ethnic group in the preindustrial, industrial and post-industrial world. The author considers the factors of weakening of national and ethnic identification in the conditions of post-industrial civilization (or in the course of cultural globalization). The emergence of a large number of subcultural microgroups, as well as changes in development trends at the macro level, pose a certain threat to the favorable development of humanity and its constituent peoples. All these phenomena need to be thoroughly analyzed by various fields of humanitarian knowledge, including in the ethnological dimension.
