INJECTIVE COMPARISONS AND METAPHORS IN THE UDMURT LANGUAGE

The article discusses entomological comparisons and metaphors with the components kay 'mole’, pyӵ 'bug', lemtay 'tick', chibin 'mosquito’, kut 'fly’, bubyli 'butterfly', mush 'bee', kuzili 'ant'. Examples from Russian and some Finno-Ugric and Turkic languages are also involved. Such a study of the material gives an interesting picture, where the universal and national in each of the languages is revealed.
