The purpose of this article is to present the performance portrait of the outstanding Russian violist F.S. Druzhinin from the position of his uniqueness, which influenced the identification of the artistic individuality of the viola. Performing rationalism and full-sounding singing on the instrument turned out to be new in his idea of the viola. These performing traits allowed Druzhinin to expand the figurative sphere of the viola and direct it in a new direction.
